Lovable vs Bolt vs v0 (2026): Which AI App Builder Fits Your Project
Lovable, Bolt and v0 compared on pricing, credits, backend, code ownership and hosting. Which AI app builder fits a landing page, an MVP or a React UI.
Pick Lovable if you want a working app with login and a database and you don't want to touch code. Pick Bolt if you want the same speed with more control over the stack and a bigger monthly allowance for $25. Pick v0 if you mostly need clean React and Next.js interfaces and plan to ship them on Vercel.
All three turn a chat into a running web app. They differ in what they assume about you. Lovable assumes you are a founder or designer who wants a finished product. Bolt assumes you are fine looking at files and terminals. v0 assumes you are close to a developer and already live in the React world.
I'm Anna, a web designer and developer. I used Lovable in the past. I haven't built projects in Bolt or v0, so this is a research piece based on official pricing pages, docs and independent reviews. Figures are as of November 2026, and all three change their plans often, so check the checkout. Some links here are affiliate links.

How each one charges you
This is where most people get surprised, so it comes first.
Lovable sells credits. Pro is $25 a month or $250 a year for 100 monthly credits, and you can scale the same plan up to 10,000 credits. On top of that, Free, Pro and Business get 5 build credits a day. Lovable's docs say a message in Plan mode costs 1 credit, and a Build mode message costs anything from about 0.5 to 2 credits depending on the work. Monthly plan credits expire two months after they arrive. Business costs $50 a month for the same 100 credits and adds SSO and team controls.
Bolt sells tokens. Free gives you 1 million tokens a month with a 300,000 daily cap. Pro starts at $25 a month with 10 million tokens and no daily cap, and unused Pro tokens stay in your balance for up to two months. Teams is $30 per member, and tokens are not shared between members. Yearly billing saves up to 28%, according to the pricing page.
v0 sells dollar credits. New free users get $5 of credits once, plus a limit of 7 messages a day. Plus is $30 per user a month and includes $30 of credits, plus $2 a day granted when you log in. Business is $100 per user with the same credits and training opt-out by default.
What this means in practice: on all three, a long debugging session costs more than a fresh build. Big projects eat tokens faster on Bolt because the AI reads more files per message. Budget for one top-up in your first busy month.

Lovable: the finished product, fastest
Lovable is the one I'd hand to a founder with no developer. You describe the app, and it builds a React project with pages, styling and, through Lovable Cloud, a database and user accounts. Hosting is included, and Pro adds a custom domain and removes the "Edit with Lovable" badge.
The output is real code. GitHub sync pushes the whole project to your own repository, so you can leave and keep the app. Code editing inside Lovable starts on Pro.
Where it struggles: a project that grows past a few dozen screens gets harder to steer with chat alone. Reviews report the usual loop where a fix in one place breaks something else and costs extra credits. Vague prompts give generic layouts. A detailed brief, like the ones in our prompt gallery, gets you much closer on the first pass.

Bolt: more control, bigger allowance
Bolt runs a full development environment in the browser. You see the file tree, the terminal and the running preview side by side. That makes it feel closer to a code editor, which is good if you want to check what the AI changed and less comfortable if you never want to see a file.
Bolt is less opinionated about the stack. You can start from different frameworks, and Pro lets you pick your database provider. Free projects are hosted with Bolt branding and up to 333K web requests. Pro raises that to 1 million requests, adds a custom domain, removes the branding and raises the upload limit from 10 MB to 100 MB.
The 10 million tokens on Pro sound like a lot. Independent reviews say large projects burn through them faster than expected, because each message sends a big chunk of the codebase as context. Keep projects tidy and start a new chat for unrelated features.
v0: the best React UI, less hand-holding
v0 is Vercel's builder. Its strength is interface code: React components built on Next.js, Tailwind and shadcn/ui, which many developers already use. If you need a dashboard, a pricing page or a set of components to drop into an existing Next.js app, v0 is the most natural fit of the three.
It has grown into a full app builder too. You get visual editing through Design Mode, GitHub sync, and one-click deploys to Vercel. For a database or auth you connect a provider through Vercel's integrations, so expect a few more setup steps than Lovable's built-in Cloud.
The free tier is thin for new users: $5 of one-time credits and 7 messages a day is enough to try it, not to build something. Plus at $30 a user is the real starting point.
Which one for which project
| Project | Best pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Landing page with a waitlist | Lovable | Form, database and hosting with no setup |
| MVP with user accounts | Lovable or Bolt | Both have a backend and hosting built in |
| App you'll hand to a developer later | Bolt or v0 | Familiar stacks, full file access |
| Components for an existing Next.js app | v0 | Output matches the shadcn/Next.js stack |
| Content site that needs SEO | None of them | A builder with CMS and SSR does it better |

Code ownership and leaving
All three let you take the code with you. Lovable and v0 sync to GitHub. Bolt lets you download the project or push it to a repository. The harder part is the backend: data in Lovable Cloud or a Bolt-hosted database has to be exported and moved, which is a separate job. If you think you might leave, connect your own Supabase or other database from day one.
FAQ
Is Lovable better than Bolt?
Lovable is better for non-coders who want a finished app with a database and login built in. Bolt is better if you want to see the file tree and terminal and choose your own database provider. Both cost $25 a month on Pro as of November 2026, but Lovable gives 100 credits while Bolt gives 10 million tokens.
Is v0 free to use?
v0 has a free plan, but it is small. As of November 2026, new free users get $5 of one-time credits and a limit of 7 messages a day, plus deploys to Vercel and GitHub sync. The paid Plus plan costs $30 per user a month and includes $30 of credits plus $2 a day when you log in.
Which is cheapest: Lovable, Bolt or v0?
On paper Lovable Pro and Bolt Pro are the cheapest at $25 a month each, while v0 Plus is $30 per user. Real cost depends on how much you iterate. Debugging uses more credits or tokens than building, so most active users on any of the three buy at least one top-up in a busy month.
Can I export my code from Lovable, Bolt and v0?
Yes. Lovable and v0 sync your project to GitHub, and Bolt lets you download it or push it to a repository. The frontend moves easily. The database is the harder part: data in Lovable Cloud or a Bolt-hosted database must be exported separately, so connect your own database early if you might leave.
Which AI app builder is best for a landing page?
Lovable is the easiest for a landing page with a form or waitlist, because the database and hosting are built in and Pro adds a custom domain for $25 a month. For a content-heavy marketing site that needs SEO and client editing, a builder with a CMS such as Framer or Webflow is usually a better fit.
Do Lovable, Bolt and v0 include hosting?
Lovable and Bolt host your app themselves, and both add a custom domain on the Pro plan. Bolt Free is hosted with Bolt branding and up to 333K web requests, while Pro raises that to 1 million. v0 deploys to Vercel in one click, so hosting runs through your Vercel account.
Bottom line
For most founders and designers, Lovable is the shortest path from idea to a working app with users and data. Bolt suits people who want to see and steer the code, and its Pro allowance is generous. v0 is the pick for React interfaces that will live in a Next.js project on Vercel. Whichever you choose, start with a detailed brief, keep the code in GitHub, and own your database if the app matters.
