Envato Elements Review 2026: Is Unlimited Downloads Worth It?
Envato Elements plans, real prices, AI credits, the license rules and the catches. Who saves money with it and who should buy single templates instead.
Envato Elements is worth it if you need stock assets every month: photos, video, fonts, WordPress themes, Elementor kits or website templates for several projects. The Core plan starts at $16.50 a month on annual billing and includes unlimited downloads from more than 30 million assets. If you only need one WordPress theme for one site, a single purchase on ThemeForest is usually cheaper and comes with author support, which Elements doesn't include.
The license is the part to understand before you subscribe. Every download is licensed for one project. When you cancel, the projects you already licensed stay covered forever, but you can't start new projects with those files.

Short verdict
| Quick facts | |
|---|---|
| Best for | Designers, freelancers, video editors and agencies who use stock assets every week |
| Not for | One-off buyers who need one theme for one site, or anyone who needs item support |
| Starting price | From $16.50/month on annual billing (Core) |
| Catalog | 30+ million assets: video, photos, music, fonts, graphics, 3D, web templates, WordPress themes and plugins |

| Refund | Canceled subscriptions are not refunded |

Plans and prices
Envato restructured its plans into Core, Plus and Ultimate. All three include the same stock library. The difference is the number of AI credits.
| Plan | Price | AI credits per month | Parallel AI jobs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core | From $16.50/mo | 20 | Not stated |
| Plus | From $39/mo | 200 | 3 |
| Ultimate | From $168/mo | 500, 1,000 or 2,000 | 10 |
| Teams | Up to 34% off individual plans | Varies | Varies |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom |
Prices from elements.envato.com/pricing, November 2026, in US dollars excluding tax. The "from" prices are the annual-billing rate. Paying month to month costs more: third-party reviews report about $33 to $39 a month for Core. Check the checkout for your exact figure.
Two discounts are worth knowing:
- Students get 30% off Core.
- Teams get shared access and up to 34% off compared with buying individual plans.
If you only need stock and templates, Core covers everything. Plus and Ultimate make sense only if you plan to generate a lot of AI images or video inside Envato.
What you get for web design
Most reviews focus on video and photos. For people who build websites, these categories matter most:
- WordPress themes and plugins. Elements carries a selection of premium themes and plugins.
- Template kits for Elementor. Full site designs you import into Elementor. Useful if you build with it; see our Elementor vs Divi comparison.
- Site templates. HTML, admin dashboards, landing pages, email templates and CMS templates.
- UI kits and graphics. Figma and Sketch files, icons, illustrations and mockups.
- Fonts. A large font library with the same commercial license.
- Stock photos and video. For hero sections, backgrounds and social posts.
The catalog is large, but quality varies by author. Reviews often mention that the best WordPress themes from ThemeForest don't always appear on Elements, so check that a specific theme is included before subscribing for it.
How the license works
This is where Elements differs from a normal stock site.
- One download, one project. When you download an item, you register it to a single project. Using it on a second client site needs a second download and registration. That is free on an active subscription.
- The license is permanent for that project. Envato's pricing page calls it a lifetime commercial license for stock assets and AI generations.
- After you cancel, you keep access until the end of the billing period. After that you can't use any item in a new project, but projects you already licensed stay covered.
- Fair use. Downloads are unlimited, but bots, scripts and mass downloading are banned.
- No item support. The subscription does not include help from the author. If a theme breaks after a WordPress update, you are on your own or on the author's goodwill.
For freelancers, point one is the habit to build: register each download to the client project it's for. That record protects you if a client asks about rights later.
Envato Elements vs ThemeForest
ThemeForest is Envato's other marketplace. You buy one item at a time, and the price is per item.
| Envato Elements | ThemeForest (Envato Market) | |
|---|---|---|
| Payment | Subscription | One-time per item |
| Use | Unlimited items, one project per registration | One end product per regular license |
| Item support | No | Included for a period, extendable |
| Updates | While subscribed | Included with the purchase |
| Best for | Many projects, many asset types | One site, one specific theme |
If you build one site, buy the theme on ThemeForest. If you build several sites a year and also need photos, fonts and kits, Elements wins on cost quickly. One year of Core on annual billing comes to about $198, which is close to the price of three or four premium themes.

The AI tools
Elements now includes AI image and video generation. Image tasks start at one credit, video costs several, and the cost shows before you generate. Envato lists models such as GPT Image 2 and Flux 3 on Plus. AI outputs fall under the same commercial license as stock.
For web design, 20 credits a month on Core is enough to try it and to fill an occasional gap. If you want AI to design the site itself, an AI builder plus a good prompt will do more. Our prompt gallery and how it works page show that route.

FAQ
How much does Envato Elements cost in 2026?
As of November 2026, Envato Elements Core starts at $16.50 a month on annual billing, which is about $198 a year. Plus starts at $39 a month and Ultimate at $168 a month, with more AI credits. Third-party reviews put monthly billing for Core at about $33 to $39. Students get 30% off Core.
Can I use Envato Elements items after I cancel?
Partly. Projects you registered while subscribed stay licensed permanently, so client sites you already built are covered. After the billing period ends, you can't use any item in a new project. You can still see your list of previously licensed items. Canceled subscriptions are not refunded.
Does Envato Elements include WordPress themes?
Yes. Envato Elements includes WordPress themes, plugins and template kits for Elementor, plus HTML site templates, landing pages, admin dashboards and email templates. Not every ThemeForest theme is on Elements, so check that a specific theme is included before you subscribe for it. Item support from authors is not included.
Is Envato Elements better than ThemeForest?
It depends on volume. ThemeForest sells one item for a one-time price with author support for a set period. Envato Elements gives unlimited downloads for a subscription from $16.50 a month on annual billing, but no author support. For one site, ThemeForest is usually cheaper. For several sites a year, Elements wins.
Can I use one Envato Elements download for several clients?
No. Each download is registered to a single project. For a second client site, you download the item again and register it to that new project. On an active subscription this costs nothing extra, because downloads are unlimited under the fair use policy. Keep a record of which download belongs to which client.
What are Envato Elements AI credits?
AI credits pay for image and video generation inside Envato. As of November 2026, Core includes 20 credits a month, Plus 200, and Ultimate 500, 1,000 or 2,000. Image tasks start at one credit and video costs several. The cost shows before you generate, and outputs get the same commercial license.
Bottom line
Envato Elements is good value for anyone who downloads assets every month, especially freelancers who need themes, Elementor kits, fonts and stock for several client projects. Pay annually, register every download to its project, and remember there's no author support. If you need one theme for one site, buy it once instead.
