Hostinger Coupon 2026: How to Get Up to 20% Off (and Avoid Renewal Shock)
How the Hostinger referral discount (up to 20%) works, how it compares with coupon codes, and how term length and renewal prices change what you really pay.
The easiest way to get up to 20% off Hostinger is a referral link. You open Hostinger through a link from an existing customer, create a new account, and the discount shows up in the cart on your first eligible purchase. There is no code to copy. Our Hostinger link works this way.
The discount only counts once, and only for new customers. The bigger saving comes from two other choices: how long a term you prepay and what you'll pay when that term ends. This guide covers all three, with real numbers.
A quick note on how I wrote this. I'm Anna, a web designer and developer, and this is a research piece. It's based on Hostinger's pricing pages, its referral program help article and independent reviews. I haven't hosted client sites on Hostinger myself. Figures are as of November 2026, during Hostinger's Black Friday sale. Some links here are affiliate links.
How the referral discount (up to 20%) works
Hostinger runs a referral program. Existing customers get a personal link, and the person who signs up through it gets a discount on the first purchase. Here are the rules from Hostinger's help center:
- New accounts only. You have to create the account through the link. If you already have a Hostinger account, even an empty one with no purchases, it doesn't count.
- Shared hosting needs 12 months or more. The same goes for AI Builder plans. A monthly shared plan doesn't qualify.
- Cloud, Agency, VPS, Business Email and Reach qualify from 1 month.
- Domains are excluded. If you buy a separate domain in the same cart, the discount doesn't apply to it.
- One discount source per order. Hostinger says referrals don't combine with its other referral programs or incentives.
Hostinger's wording mentions "up to 20%" in places, so look at the cart total before you pay. The discount line should be visible there. If it isn't, open the link again in a private window and start a fresh account.
Coupon codes vs a referral link
Search "Hostinger coupon" and you'll find pages full of codes. Here's how to read them.
| Referral link | Public coupon code | |
|---|---|---|
| How you apply it | Automatically, by opening the link | Typed into the "coupon code" field at checkout |
| Who can use it | New accounts only | Depends on the code, often new customers too |
| Typical size | Up to 20% | Usually 5–20%, often tied to one plan or term |
| Where it comes from | Hostinger's referral program | Influencer, affiliate or seasonal campaigns |
| Works during big sales | Hostinger doesn't say | Often disabled during sales |
Codes expire quietly. Many "verified" lists show codes that stopped working months ago, and some codes only cover one plan on one term. You can only use one discount per order anyway, so try what you have and keep whichever gives the lowest cart total. I won't list codes here because I can't check them all and I don't want you wasting ten minutes at checkout.
The honest summary: the sale price does most of the work. The referral discount (up to 20%) comes off a price that's already discounted, which is helpful but smaller in dollars than it sounds.
The real price depends on the term
Hostinger shows a monthly price, but you prepay the whole term. During the November 2026 sale, the price per month for Premium is the same on 12, 24 and 48 months. What changes is how long that price lasts.
| Premium term | Price per month | You pay today | With up to 20% off* | Renews at |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 month | $12.99 | $12.99 | Not eligible | $12.99/mo |
| 12 months | $1.99 | $23.88 | about $19.10 | $10.99/mo |
| 24 months | $1.99 | $47.76 | about $38.21 | $10.99/mo |
| 48 months | $1.99 | $95.52 | about $76.42 | $10.99/mo |
*If the referral discount applies to the sale price. The checkout shows the final figure. Prices from hostinger.com, November 2026.
The same pattern holds on the bigger plans:
| Plan | 12 months today | 24 months today | 48 months today | Renews at |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Unlimited | $33.48 ($2.79/mo) | $66.96 ($2.79/mo) | $133.92 ($2.79/mo) | $16.99/mo |
| Cloud Startup | $119.88 ($9.99/mo) | $215.76 ($8.99/mo) | $383.52 ($7.99/mo) | $25.99/mo |
So the term matters more than the coupon. On Premium, a full 20% would save you about $19 on four years. Choosing 48 months over 12 months saves you hundreds, because the sale price covers four years instead of one.
What renewal shock looks like in numbers
When the prepaid term ends, Hostinger bills the regular price. For Premium that's $10.99 a month, so $131.88 for a year. Here's the total for four years of Premium, depending on the first term you pick. The domain costs the same in each case, so I left it out.
| Your choice | First bill | Renewals in years 2–4 | Total for 4 years |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12 months, then renew yearly | $23.88 | 3 × $131.88 | $419.52 |
| 24 months, then renew for 24 | $47.76 | $263.76 | $311.52 |
| 48 months | $95.52 | nothing yet | $95.52 |
The 48-month plan is the cheapest way to run one site for four years. The catch comes in year five, when a new 48-month term at $10.99 costs $527.52 upfront.
Two other renewals people miss:
- The free domain is free for one year. After that, a .com renews at $19.99 a year at Hostinger as of November 2026.
- Free mailboxes on Premium are free for one year too.
How to avoid renewal shock
- Pick the term on purpose. If the site is a test, 12 months is fine, and you lose little. If it's your business site, a long term locks in the sale price.
- Put the renewal date in your calendar a month before it hits. That's when you decide whether to renew, downgrade or move.
- Turn off auto-renewal in hPanel if you'd rather decide manually. You can turn it back on later.
- Compare renewal terms. The renewal price is quoted "for the same term", so check what a longer renewal costs before you click renew.
- Check pre-ticked extras at checkout. Add-ons like daily backups or domain extras also renew.
- Remember the 30-day money-back guarantee. It covers hosting, so you can test the panel before you commit. Domains aren't refundable.
Which plan to use the discount on
The referral discount works once, so put it on the plan you actually need.
- One portfolio or landing page you built with Claude, Cursor or Bolt: Premium on 12 or 48 months.
- Several sites, or a React or Next.js app that needs Node.js: Unlimited, or Cloud Startup for more resources. Our Hostinger review explains which plans include GitHub deploys.
- A store or a site with real traffic: Cloud Startup. Cloud qualifies for the referral from one month, but the low price still comes with the long term.
- Client sites as a freelancer: Agency hosting. Read our guide to hosting for web designers.
Is there a better deal than up to 20% off?
Sometimes. Hostinger runs seasonal sales (Black Friday, New Year, summer), and the sale price changes the headline more than any coupon. If you're not in a hurry and a sale isn't running, waiting a few weeks can be worth it. Right now, in November 2026, the sale is live.
It also helps to compare total cost with other hosts. Namecheap starts higher on some terms but renews much lower. We compare both in Hostinger vs Namecheap. If you haven't decided whether you need a host at all, start with our guide to publishing a site you built with AI.
FAQ
Is there a Hostinger coupon for existing customers? The referral discount doesn't work for existing accounts. Existing customers sometimes see upgrade or renewal offers inside hPanel.
Does the discount apply to renewals? No. It applies to the first purchase only. The renewal is billed at the regular price.
Can I combine a coupon code with the referral link? Hostinger allows one discount source per order. Try both and keep the lower total.
Does the discount work on domains? No, domains are excluded. Most hosting plans of 12 months or more already include a domain free for the first year.
Can I use the discount on a monthly plan? Not on shared hosting, which needs 12 months or more. Cloud, VPS and Agency plans qualify from one month.
Bottom line
The referral discount of up to 20% is real, simple and works without a code, but only once and only for new accounts. Your term choice and the renewal price matter far more. Pick the term on purpose, write down the renewal date, and check the checkout total before you pay.
